Winterthur

Tickets: $18 Adult, $16 Seniors and Students, $5 Children 2-12
When forests were cleared for agricultural purposes many years ago, trees were kept at bay by livestock, man, or machinery. However, as these fields are abandoned, woody plants begin to resurge, and in time, the forest makes its eventual return. Come see some examples of how woody plants—native and non-native—have re-introduced themselves in the ongoing process of succession. This hike, led by garden horticulturist Jim Pirhalla, will begin at the greenhouses with tram transportation to the East Barn area.
Join us for demonstrations, talks, and guided walks covering a wide range of gardening topics. Programs take place on Wednesdays starting at the Winterthur Greenhouses. Visit our Wednesdays at Winterthur page for detailed descriptions of each program. Members free. Included with admission.
