New Garden Book about Tyler Formal Gardens
Tyler Elegance: A Garden Odyssey, by Lyle Rosenberger, now available for purchase.
Tyler Formal Gardens at Bucks County Community College (May 4, 2011)
April 9 was the debut of the published story of Tyler Formal Gardens, Tyler Elegance: A Garden Odyssey. Just a year ago, Lyle Rosenberger—long-time professor at BCCC, and co-founder of the Tyler Restoration Committee and the Tyler Gardens Panel—embarked on an odyssey of his own: to research the journey of the gardens from their creation in the early 1930s to their decline during the late 1960s and 1990s to their revival, starting in 1999.
The publishing project was, indeed, a labor of love for Lyle as well as for editor Barbara Long and graphic designer and photographer Rita Melamud. Rita generously donated her professional photos to augment the text recounting the gardens’ history. Archived photographs dating back to 1932 are part of this beautiful pictorial, which also includes a fold-out architectural rendering of the Tyler Mansion and Tyler Formal Gardens.
The book is available for purchase at the Foundation Office of Buckse County Community College in Newtown as well as at various Bucks County bookstores. All proceeds from sales of the book, which costs just $20, benefit the Tyler Formal Gardens Endowment Fund.
